LUTHERAN YES! CURRICULUM DESIGN
SOUPISET DESIGN

A big, bright YES to confirmation.
Lutheran Yes! is a new confirmation curriculum from Augsburg Fortress’s Sparkhouse imprint, created for middle schoolers who have had enough of confirmation that feels like school.
Soupiset Design branded the Lutheran Yes! product with logo, color and typography, an icon system, and a launch sampler including designs for the Student Quest Book and Leader Guide, Connection and Quest cards, a foldable Quest Board Game, and a concise style guide that Augsburg Fortress’s design team used to carry the system forward.
The curriculum was conceived around choice, conversation and participation: students move through hands-on Quests, use cards to check in with one another, explore their faith tradition, and learn by writing, making, moving, talking and doing. Client research with congregations and families pointed to another important shift: after years of pandemic-era screen dependence, this audience was hungry for tangible, shared experiences—so Lutheran Yes! deliberately returned much of the learning to physical artifacts. The challenge was to create a brand that could hold all of that energy without trying too hard to look “young.”
The target: hopeful, personal, simple, authentic and open, but not snarky, preachy, bookish or pandering. The identity needed to speak convincingly to design-savvy middle schoolers while remaining clear and useful for the pastors, staff and volunteers actually leading the program.
The resultant identity puts YES! at the center: big, direct, colorful and a little unruly, held together by a flexible palette, bold typography, and approachable, rounded forms. Student-facing pages use saturated fields of color, a mix of illustrations and photography, generous activity spaces and oversized type: a workbook to explore, mark up, cut apart and make your own.
